| | Cubs Team Report (Yahoo! Sports) |
| Few people probably took Cubs manager Mike Quade seriously when he chatted up reporters before Thursday night's game against the Nationals.
After all, his team had just dropped three straight to the Nats, each by one run. But Quade wouldn't quit, even though his team entered the game a season-worst 18 games under .500.
"I believe we can turn this thing around, and I think it can start today and I believe that every day," Quade said. "There's nothing like today. Get (Matt) Garza a good outing, win a ballgame here, we go into Pittsburgh and start to try to build on turning this thing around right now. I always feel like that every day. People think it's tough, but why not? Why not today?"
Yeah, right.
