So far, I am not exactly happy with the moves. I really hope there is still a chance the Cubs can get Peavy. We've added Milton Bradley, which is decent, but we dumped DeRosa. To me, that is a wash. DeRosa was a versatile guy and had a career year. Bradley is a good player and had a great year, but he was a DH in 2008. Can he stand playing frequently in Right Field? We have Fukudome to offset him, so maybe so.

Parting ways with DeRosa still makes me frown. The guy was invaluable as he could play 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and all the outfield positions. Hell, he probably could have played behind the plate.

What are the odds Bradley is going to get in a slump, the fans will start booing, and he will hate playing in Chicago? He has the temper. History proves it. Can anyone say Jacque Jones? What about Latroy Hawkins. Both decent players before they came to Chicago. After the pressure of Chicago, they became scrubs!

Dumping Marquis is a good move.

Adding Aaron Miles is ok, but I would still rather have DeRosa.

Adding Gathright is ok, but it seems like we now have a ton of outfielders.

Adding Kevin Gregg is good. He may even become the closer.

Parting ways with Wood was coming for a while. We'll miss him. Blanco will be missed as well as he was a mentor to Soto. It will be interesting to see how Soto performs without him.

Howry was on and off (mostly off), but he seemed to be declining in 2008.

I agree with you totally. I was actually glad that they got rid of Wood though. He was bringing the team down. Also, does anyone know if there is any chance they will resign Jim Edmonds? He was the best thing that ever happened to the Cubs after Sammy Sosa.
