For a team that’s supposed to be cursed, everything seems to be coming up in the Chicago Cubs’ favor right now. The Cubs will not only enter their first World Series in 71 years as the overwhelming favorite, but they’ll also do so with a player who was expected to miss the entire season. On Monday night, Jon Morosi of Fox Sports reported that Schwarber was on his way to Cleveland and the plan was to have him DH in Game 1. Relief pitcher Rob Zastryzny who hadn’t appeared thus far for the Cubs this postseason.

Kyle Schwarber was added to the Chicago Cubs' World Series roster and could start Tuesday night's opener against the Cleveland Indians at designated hitter. The 23-year-old outfielder replaced left-handed pitcher Rob Zastryzny on the 25-man roster announced 10 hours before Game 1. Schwarber was playing left field at Arizona on April 7 when he collided with center fielder Dexter Fowler and tumbled on a ball that became an inside-the-park home run for Jean Segura.

The Chicago Cubs, who have not won a title since 1908 in the longest championship futility streak in American sports history, worked out on the eve of the opener of the 112th World Series against the Cleveland Indians, whose title drought since 1948 is the second-longest in Major League Baseball annals. "I think we all have a tremendous amount of respect for history and what has happened before us or not happened before us, Cubs manager Joe Maddon said.
